At the 2021 Composite FX Factory Fly In, CFX debuted the XE290 which replaces the XE285 going forward.
Improvements in engine safety and/or performance include:
-New Automatic Fuel Mapping ECU and Harness
-New Independent Ignition Coils
-New Larger Charging Capacity
-New Quieter Intake System
-Improved Cooling System
-Improved Exhaust
Composite FX Mosquito XE290 Helicopter
The workhorse of the XE family, the new XE 290 is a piston powered, water cooled, oil injected, fuel injected, electronic programmable ignition, 800 cc, 90HP experimental helicopter. Years of development have went into the transition from the smaller, air cooled engine to this power plant. At 7,000 RPM, this engine uses approximately half of its potential output, leading to extended service and dependability. Fuel consumption (91-93 octane mogas) is about 7 gallons per hour, providing exceptional economy, range and performance.

Paint plus either Dealer Assist Build or Factory Assist Build standard kit: $80,000
Note: Both Dealer and Factory Assist Builds include test flight.
Dealer Assist builds with Storey Aviation here in Tennessee not only include test flight but will also include our Custom Cockpit Checklist, log sheets for Flight Time, Airframe, Engine, Rotor Blades and Building Log and receive assistance with FAA Registration and Final Inspection for Airworthiness Certificate.
